World of Warcraft diventerà un film con la regia di Duncan Jones

Dopo una storia travagliata ora è certo che World of Warcraft arriverà sul grande schermo. Lo annuncia il regista Duncan Jones (Source Code) che fissa il 2015 come data per il rilascio. L’opera in collaborazione tra Legendary Pictures e Blizzard Entertainment. world of warcraft gold


World of Warcraf, probabilmente il più polare Mmorpg di sempre, diventerà un film la cui distribuzione è prevista per il 2015. Ne dà annuncio su Twitter, ripreso dal sito specializzato Hollywood Reporter, il regista Duncan Jones, incaricato dalla casa di produzione Legendary Pictures che ne ha acqui sito i diritti per il grande schermo.

Non sono ancora iniziate le riprese, ma la pellicola ha già una lunga e travagliata storia. Principessa Guerriera e Hercules e soprattutto dei blockbuster della serie cinematografica del’Uomo Ragno. Probabilme nte per dissidi con lo sceneggiatore Charles Leavitt (autore di Blood Diamond) Raimi ha poi rinunciato. Legendary e la partner Warner Bros. hanno successivamente scelto Jones, che oltre per essere il figlio del cantante David Bowie è famoso al grande pubblico per l’originale Source Code del 2011. Al fianco di Jones ci saranno i produttori esecutivi Stuart Fenegan (che aveva affiancato il regista anche nella sua opera prima Moon) e Chris Metzen, coproduttore in rappresentanza della Blizzard Entertainment, la software house che ha creato il videogioco e gli altri titoli – giochi di strategia in tempo reale - legati all’ambientazione di WoW.

Sì perché World of Warcraft non è solo un videogioco, ma un vero e proprio universo immaginario, che ha generato libri e fumetti e che metterà Jones di fronte ad una doppia sfida: quella di portare sullo schermo un videogame popolarissimo (attualmente sui server della Blizzard sono circa 12 milioni i profili attivi), ed insieme rendere la profondità e la complessità di un’opera fantasy dotata di una vera e propria dignità letteraria.

Guild Wars 2 adjusts dynamic leveling system

    ArenaNet's Isaiah Cartwright, lead game designer on Guild Wars 2, has posted a new dev blog to address the recent changes to the game's dynamic leveling system. In the build of the game that went live on January 28th, the team made two major changes to the way dynamic leveling works. First, the devs "changed the formula for how attributes are calculated when the dynamic leveling adjustment system scales [players' levels] down." This is intended to make players' returns to low-level zones "more fun and better balanced." Secondly, the team "changed the formula for how rewards are calculated when scaled down to make it more rewarding for high-level players to visit lower-level areas."cheap Wars 2 gold

    Cartwright claims that the goal of these changes is to "more accurately reflect the attributes [players] should have at that level for a similarly geared character" and adds that even though the changes will increase the difficulty of some lower-level zones, the team wants to ensure that "all areas of Guild Wars 2 [are] exciting and fun for players of any level." Flame and Frost: Prelude event sets the stage for big changes to Guild Wars 2

Get ready for some big changes to Guild Wars 2. In about a week, a new event, titled Flame and Frost: Prelude, will take place, effectively paving the way to a multi-stage narrative that will forever change the world of Tyria.

A description for the event reads:
The sky falls and the ground shakes in the lands of the north. Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south. The call goes out for volunteers to assist the victims in this time of need, when earth and sky seem to have become the enemy…

So what exactly does Flame and Frost: Prelude entail? From January 28 to February 4 the regular eight-team/three-round paid tournaments will be replaced by two-team/single-round paid tournaments in the Temple of the Silent Storm map. After the week is over, ArenaNet will add Temple of the Silent Storm to the regular rotation of both free and paid tournaments.buy guild wars 2 gold

A new rotation of daily achievements will also be added as well as brand-new laurels as a reward for completing them. Laurels can be redeemed for rewards like the new Ascended gear and Infusions. A variety of new Utility Infusions and Ascended Amulets can be purchased with these new laurels.

Other features include a new guesting system that allows you to play with friends on other worlds in the same region without changing your home world. Guesting will be free, but moving forward there will be a gem fee for transferring home worlds. You can change home worlds freely before January 28.

As usual, ArenaNet promises the typical "other improvements" like enhanced performance in WvW, adjustments to side-kicking balancing, and UI improvements. These will all be further detailed in the upcoming release notes.

Do you worry about ammunition?

    Despite the fact that my thief in Guild Wars 2 carries pistols which appear to be capable of holding one shot at a time, I don't recall her ever reloading. Nor do I recall ever having to buy the oxcarts full of ammunition that she apparently has at all times, because it has to come from somewhere. Like many games, Guild Wars 2 does away with worries about ammunition and focuses instead on just giving you weapons that fire when you want.

   On the one hand, this makes sense -- ammunition in World of Warcraft was such a hassle that the designers eventually did away with it altogether. It's a break in verisimilitude for ease of play. On the other hand, removing the need for ammunition removes the possibility of special types of ammunition, and the ease of play issues could be addressed in other ways.
